Key Benefits

Maintain Broiler performance and bone mineralization

Making sure the P/Ca mix is right

Maintain shell quality and strength

When to Apply

Layers

Calcimate® should be applied when hens are laying eggs. For best results blend Calcimate® Grit and Calcimate® Fine Limestone at a 50:50 ratio. Increase the grit to fines ratio as birds age to 80:20. Calcimate® may provide some or all of the animals dietary calcium.

Broilers and Pullets

Calcium is an important nutrient throughout the lifecycle of the broiler however requirements vary depending on the age of the bird. Feed Calcimate® Fine Limestone as per the guidelines and note that calcium requirements taper as the bird ages.

WARNING: BEFORE OFFERING CALCIMATE® CHECK THAT OTHER FEEDS THE ANIMAL IS CONSUMING DO NOT ALREADY HAVE CALCIUM ADDED.

Young birds (0-24 days) should not be fed a high calcium layer diet as an excess of dietary calcium can tie up phosphorus making it unavailable and may result in rickets. The balance between calcium and phosphorus is key. Excess calcium in the growing period can also result in kidney damage, visceral gout, calcium deposits in the ureter and mortality. For growing poultry, the ratio of calcium to  phosphorus should not deviate substantially from 1.2-1.5:1.

Mixing and Feeding Guidelines

Layers

Calcimate® can be fed to hens as part of a balanced diet supplying 4-4.5% Ca. For hens fed predominantly on whole grain and table scraps Calcimate® can be offered by free choice in a separate dish or container. Hens will generally regulate their own calcium intake according to egg production requirements and help themselves when needed.

Broilers and Pullets

Calcimate® is best fed to broilers as part of a balanced diet. Most commercial feeds have Calcium added already so care must be taken to ensure that adding Calcimate Fine Limestone does not cause a Calcium imbalance. Note that Calcium concentrations in the diet should decrease as broilers grow.
